Change it up a little!
If you've been on the same workout and diet regimen for a while, at some point you will
hit a plateau in your development. In order to break away and start seeing results
again, the answer is "muscle confusion."
Muscle confusion is a highly effective way to get faster results and blast out of your
"plateau" phase. It can be as simple as adding a new exercise to your plan, taking a
new class at the gym, or changing up you work-outs all together. This will "shock" your
body so it will have to adjust to a new form of daily activity. It's almost like telling your
body to start over and go back into the building phase again.

Jo, myself, and our bikes were covered in
mud by the end of the ride, and I was
completely exhausted by the time we got back
to my truck. I then fell to the pavement from
exhaustion and joy to see dry pavement. Jo
looked down at me and shouted, "What are
you doing?:et on your feet Antwan...This is
what we do!" I couldn't help but laugh and get
on my feet :). Jo has also showcased her
outstanding abilities and endurance at Body
Styles Boot Camp! I would like to thank Jo for
giving a portion of her life to protect our country
and training with Body Styles; she has
definitely earned her position in the training
spotlight!
Joanne Ramos, U.S. Army
Jo is a personal training client whom I've had a
great time working with. She informed me that
she had bought a new bike and wanted to
break it in. Needless to say, I was all for it! Jo
and I drove to Terry Hershey park, a nearby
biking trail in her neighborhood. Unfortunately it
rained the night before and the trail was
extremely muddy. But a little mud didn't stop Jo
from racing down the muddy hills yelling, "Get
Some!. Yeah!"

Maria Echevarria
Maria is normally a participant at one of my evening Boot Camp
courses; but we had to schedule a personal session because of a
cancellation earlier in the week. She wanted to do a total body
work-out, so we started off with a mild twelve minutes on the
elliptical trainer. Next, we did a short boxing routine. This actually
became a turning point of the work-out....... Once I showed her a
combination of jabs and uppercuts, Maria let loose on me like Mike
Tyson on a bag of pig ears! There were a few near misses involving
my nose, chin and groin, but I managed to survive her newly
released fury. :-)
Continued below........
Later on we moved to the lower body...... Maria was pretty psyched by
this time, so she says, "Bring it on!" I saw this fiery look in her eyes,
and it had me a bit worried. I had to think fast, I needed something to
calm her down! Monkey squats! A good set of monkey squats could
tame anyone! I had her do two sets, one of twelve, then eighteen.
After some heavy breathing and grunting, she managed to finish, but
by this time she was much more calm. Wheeew!.... We finished up
the workout with some abdominal exercises and stretches. When it
was all said and done, Maria was finally winded..... and had worn
me out just as well! Maria's a real trooper in my book, and if I ever
get into a bar fight, I would only hope that she was there to back me
up! Great Job Maria!... Keep training hard, and remember, "It's what
we do!"

Nathan Overstreet
Nathan has been a personal training
client off and on when he could free up
time from his busy schedule. He came to
me and told me that he had never been
able to do a pull up....his entire life. So I
told him that if he gave me 30 days, I
would have him doing 3 pull ups. He
started coming to my evening boot camp
class 4 days a week.
We worked on his upper body at least 2 of
month, I noticed the he was needing less help
with his pull ups and told him the time was
coming soon. ;-) About a week after the 30 day
period I decided to put him to the test.........HE
DID IT! One pull up! All he could do was one
full one, but dangit he did it! That was his big
day! At the end of class I was honored to give
him his boot camp dog tag for tackling his
fitness goal! You ROCK Nathan!
